Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the difficulty in reading comprehension of English Department Students. The difficulty in reading comprehension faced by second semester students and factors causing the student ‘difficulties in reading comprehension. This researcher used descriptive-qualitative researcher method. In this research, the researcher analyzed the students’ difficulties from 13 sample. The reading comprehension was analyzed by level literal and inferential. Based on the result of analysis, it was found that 6,89% of literal level and 18, 42% of inferential level. Then, there are factors causing students’ difficulties in reading comprehension. They are understanding long sentence, using reading strategies, concentration, limited vocabulary, lack of fluency, problem with processing information, low interest and less motivation.
