The Implementation of Socio-Affective Strategy to Improve the Students' Speaking Ability at First Semester Students' in STKIP YPUP Makassar

This thesis discusses about improvement of students' speaking ability by using Socio-Affective Strategy at the first semester students in STKIP YPUP Makassar academic year 2024/2025. This study was used a pre- experimental type of design. The purpose of this research was to determine whether the use of Socio-Affective Strategy can improve students speaking skills, especially in pronunciation and vocabulary or not. The sample of this research was the first-semester students in STKIP YPUP Makassar. The research procedure was used six meetings. The data was collected through speaking tests, namely pre-test and post-test. The test was conducted to determine student scores before and after using the Socio-Affective Strategy in learning. The result of this research was showed that students' scores have a significant difference in scores. The results of the students' mean score at the time of the pre-test was 67.22 which was lower than the post-test was 82 proven by t-test score higher than the 1-table (12,96 2,306). Moreover, most of the students were more active when the researcher used the Socio-Affective Strategy to improve speaking ability.
