The Use of Content-Based Instruction in Improving Students’ Speaking Ability at the Third-Grade Students’ of SMA YPLP PGRI 2 Tamalate

This research was to find out whether or not the use of Content-Based Instruction effective to improving students’ speaking ability at SMA YPLP PGRI 2 Tamalate. The method used in this research was a pre–experimental. The population of this research was 15 students of the third-grade students of SMA YPLP PGRI 2 Tamalate. In determining the sample, the researcher used a total sampling technique. The researcher took 15 students of the third-grade students of SMA YPLP PGRI 2 Tamalate. The instruments of this research applied text scripts and camera smartphone as the media. The results showed that there was a significant difference of students’ mean score in pre-test and post-test, where the mean score in post-test was higher than pre-test (77.33 > 26.7) and the t-test value is higher than the t-table value (12 > 2.144). Based on the result of the data analysis, it can be concluded that the use of the use of Content-Based Instruction was good enough to improve the students’ speaking ability.
