The Use of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone Movie Media to Improve Students’ Speaking Ability at the Third Semester Students of STKIP YPUP Makassar

This research was to find out whether or not the use of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone Movie Method improves speaking ability at the third semester students of STKIP YPUP Makassar. The method used in this research was a pre- experimental. The population of this research was taken from the third semester students of English Education at STKIP YPUP Makassar, which consist of 15 students. The researcher had been used a purposive sampling technique. The researcher took 15 students of the third semester students of STKIP YPUP Makassar based on the observation that researcher observed on April, 10th 2022. The instruments of this research applied text scripts, movie, and camera smartphone as the media. The results showed that there was a significant difference of students’ mean score in pre-test and post-test, where the mean score in post-test was higher than pre-test (83.46 > 32.86) and the T-Test value is greater than the T-Table value (19.094 > 2.144). Based on the result of the data analysis, it can be concluded that the use of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone Movie Method was good enough to improve the students’ speaking ability.
