Analisis Koneksi Matematis Siswa SMP Melalui Kemampuan Literasi dan Numerasi di SMP Negeri 13 Makassar

Abstrak

This study aims to analyze the level of mathematical connection of students of SMP Negeri 13 Makassar based on literacy and numeracy skills. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. The subjects were six Grade VIIa students selected by purposive sampling, two students each in the high, medium, and low ability categories, based on the results of a mathematical connection test covering aspects of literacy and numeracy. Data were collected through essay tests based on real-life contexts, observations, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that students with high ability were able to fulfill most of the indicators of mathematical connection, such as connecting between mathematical concepts, relating mathematics to other disciplines, and applying them in everyday life. Students with medium ability were only able to fulfill some of the indicators, while students with low ability had difficulty in connecting concepts and applying mathematical knowledge in different contexts. The conclusion of the study confirms that literacy and numeracy skills play an important role in the formation of mathematical connections, so strengthening both aspects needs to be a focus in mathematics learning to improve the quality of students' understanding and problem-solving.
