The Implementation of Whole Group Management skill of the Teacher in Teaching English

This research aims to know the implementation of whole group management skill of the teacher in teaching english. The subject is the first grade teacher of English at SMP Hasanuddin Gowa. The method is descriptive. The researcher used two ways in collecting data: classroom observation and interviewed the English teacher. The result indicates that the first grade teacher of English at SMP Hasanuddin Gowa implemented Whole Group Management Skill during her English teaching and learning process. The implementation is categorized as always appear that is indicated by 5,1. Those are wittiness, movement management, and maintaining group focus whereas the Whole Group Management Skill’s Principles is categorized as sometimes appear. It means that the first grade teacher of English implemented all of the Whole Group Management Skill’s principle and its indicators in the teaching of English to the first grade students at SMP Hasanuddin Gowa.

Using Plot of Film to Improve Reading Comprehension

This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of using film plots as a medium to enhance students’ reading comprehension at SMA Satria Makassar. Employing a pre-experimental research design, the study involved a sample selected through purposive sampling. The research procedure included administering a pretest and posttest to measure students' reading comprehension before and after the treatment. The data analysis reveals a significant improvement in students’ performance, with the mean score increasing from 5.89 in the pretest to 12.11 in the posttest. This finding indicates that integrating film plots into language instruction can positively impact students’ reading comprehension skills. The use of familiar and engaging narrative structures in film plots may provide contextual clues and stimulate students’ interest, thereby enhancing their understanding of texts. Based on the results, it can be concluded that incorporating multimedia elements, such as film plots, serves as an effective pedagogical tool to improve reading comprehension in EFL contexts. This study supports the notion that innovative teaching strategies aligned with students’ interests can foster better learning outcomes in language education. Further research with larger samples and varied contexts is recommended to strengthen the generalizability of the findings.

Improving Reading Comprehension Through Reading Workshop Strategy at the Second Grade Students of MTs Darunnajah Botong

This thesis aimed to find out whether or not the Reading Workshop strategy could improve the students’ reading comprehension. This research used pre-experimental design which the population was 21 students of second-grade in MTsS Darunnajah Botong and the total sample were 21 students because the researcher used purposive sample technique. The technique data analysis used manual methods which find out the students’ mean score, gain score, classification and percentage, and also T-table and T-test. The data was collected through reading test, especially used multiple choice tests. The students score had significant different score in pre-test and post-test. The mean score of the students’ pre-test was 54.76 while in the post-test was 85.24. The proof showed that there was significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores. The value of the T-test was higher than the T-table (8.75 > 2.086) at the level of significant 0.05. From the explanation, the researcher concluded that Reading Workshop strategy could improve students’ reading comprehension.

Improving Students’ Vocabulary Mastery Through Outdoor Learning Activities

This research was intended to find out whether or not outdoor Learning activities can improve students’ vocabulary mastery of tenth grade students of SMA BATARA GOWA. This research used pre-experiment method. The population of this research was the tenth grade students of SMA BATARA GOWA in academic Year 2013- 2014. The Sample of this research used random sampling technique. In collecting the data, the research applied vocabulary test which consists of two tests namely pre-test and post-test. The result of this research showed that the outdoor Learning activities can increase students’ vocabulary mastery. It can be proven by the means score of pre-test and post – test where pre-test 50,63 and post-test 62,46 Post-test is higher than pre-test and t-test value is higher than t-table. The researcher concluded that outdoor Learning activities can improve students’ vocabulary mastery of tenth grade students of SMA Batara Gowa.

THE IMPLEMENTATION OF GRAB BAG TECHNIQUE TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY

The research aimes to describe the use of Grab Bag Technique to Improve Students’ Vocabulary Mastery. The population of the research is at the fifth grade students of SD Negeri Sangir Makassar. The sample is 30 students by using Purposive sampling technique. The research uses pre-experimental method with one group pretest and post-test. The data analysis shows that the students’ vocabulary achievement with the mean score in pre-test is 5,2 and the mean score in post-test is 7. There is significant difference by means post-test is higher than pre-test (7 > 5,2). The t-test value is greater than t-table (8,3 > 2,045). It can be concluded that the use of Grab Bag Technique can increase the students’ vocabulary mastery at the fifth grade students of SD Negeri Sangir Makassar.

The Implementation of Reciprocal Method to Improve the Students Speaking Ability

This research was intended to find out whether or not reciprocal method can improved speaking ability of the first grade students of SMA Tamalatea Makassar. This research used pre-experimental method. The population of this research was the first grade students of SMA Tamalatea Makassar in academic year 2013/2014. The sample was 25 students and used total sampling. In collecting the data the researcher applied speaking test which consists of pre-test and post-test. The result of this research showed that reciprocal method can improved speaking ability for the students. It can be proven by the data of pre-test and post-test mean score, t-test value and t-table.Where pre-test was 3,4 post-test was 4,57, t-test value 15,58 and t-table 2,026. Post-test is higher than pre-test and t-test value is higher than t-table. This research concluded that the use reciprocal method of teaching was effective to improved the students’ speaking ability.
